We are a congregation
Of mind-altering participants
And we are awaiting the rush
The loss of control
Pooling our collective impatience
Into a chain of bar propping enthusiasts
Making idle chit-chat

Bourbon breaks the ice
Whilst vodka spins verbal moves

So us hedonistic fiends separate ourselves from the cocktail charmers
And glide through the eerie dry ice to rhythmical lands

Lost on a plateau of bass

Every kick drum
Every snare drum pulsating

The DJ spins from the high tower
And we disciples flock below
Absorbing every mix and glitch into our pours
The warmth rises through the spine
And I can feel everyone

My eyes fill with the wonderment of childish imagination
Under strobe-lights I'm dancing with demons
As cartoon critter vacate this cerebral unity
And there is no sense of time here

And there is no explanation
As to how I now come to be on this cobblestone street
Packed like cattle with fellow shakers
In a bubble yet soulfully connected to them all

We converse in a language I won't ever speak again
And reaffirm our connectivity with Cheshire cat grins
And we hug life
We hug life for all it's worth

I stand and marvel at all my love and compassion
Illustrated by a horde of frenzied party goers
Glitter and pearls
Glow sticks and whistles

I watch nicotine plumes escape into the night sky
Energised by riddles and tongue twisters
And watch as the tip of my cigarette nonchalantly flicks ash to the ground
That morphs into cancerous snowflakes

Familiar faces appear
Every face vibrant and blushing brilliance
We communicate in giggles, palm strokes and the dual resting of foreheads
Seconds become hours
Hours become seconds
